Neil deGrasse Tyson is an astrophysicist, author, and science communicator. Born and raised in New York City, he earned his BA in Physics from Harvard and his PhD in Astrophysics from Columbia. Tyson has served on various government commissions related to space exploration and has been appointed to NASA’s Advisory Council.

He has written numerous books, including New York Times bestsellers Death By Black Hole, Astrophysics for People In A Hurry, Accessory to War, and Letters from an Astrophysicist.

Tyson hosted the PBS NOVA spinoff program NOVA ScienceNOW and later developed StarTalk, a radio show and podcast that blends science and pop culture. He also hosted and narrated the Emmy-winning television series Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey and its sequel Cosmos: Possible Worlds.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is the Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York City and a research associate at the American Museum of Natural History’s Department of Astrophysics.
