Chad Stahelski, originally from Palmer, Massachusetts, is an accomplished martial artist with black belts in various disciplines. While at the University of Southern California, he joined the renowned Inosanto Academy, swiftly rising to become one of its leading students and eventually an instructor. Notably, Chad was among the initial Americans to compete in Japan’s celebrated Shooto mixed martial arts competition, securing numerous titles in the arena.
His foray into the stunt domain began when he doubled for Brandon Lee in “The Crow”. His notable achievement was securing the role to double Keanu Reeves in “The Matrix” trilogy. This opportunity allowed him to observe the intricate Hong Kong action techniques, positioning him as a sought-after fight choreographer in Hollywood. Among his notable works, Chad was the brains behind the fight sequences in the movie “300”. Later, he co-founded 87eleven with David Leitch.
Recognized as an elite fight choreographer and stunt coordinator, Chad’s unique approach has made him an asset in the filmmaking industry. His team at 87eleven has influenced numerous iconic fight scenes in Hollywood in recent times. Some of his notable contributions as a 2nd unit director include films like “SHERLOCK HOLMES 2”, “EXPENDABLES 1 and 2”, and the “HUNGER GAMES” series. After co-directing “JOHN WICK” with David Leitch, Chad has various projects in the pipeline under the 87eleven banner, including the directorial role for “JOHN WICK 2”.
